Plumbing leaks are very destructive, especially here in Central Florida. They can quickly damage your home, attract insects, and encourage mold to grow. Since most of the water pipes are where you can’t see them, it can be difficult to detect a leak. 

Here are the most common places water leaks happen

Broken seals 

Nothing last forever, the seals around your appliances wear out and aren’t as effective as they should be. Look for condensation near the seals or puddles near appliances. 

Clogged pipes

More than just an inconvenience, clogs can damage pipes. Leading to pinhole leaks or even a bursting.

Corrosion 

It is inevitable your plumbing pipes will start to corrode over time. Rust, debris, and age, can cause your pipes to eat away from the inside. Be mindful of any discoloration in the water. 

Pipe Joints 

The weakest point of your plumbing system is where the pipes connect. Joints undergo a lot of pressure, which can cause them to deteriorate. If you notice your pipes making any banging or ticking noise, it is time to have them checked out. 

High water pressure 

High water pressure is great for a shower, but not for your pipes. The extra strain on your plumbing can cause leaks. 

Tree roots intruding 

Underground water leaks are typically the responsibility of the home or business owner. Invasive tree roots are a big issue. These roots can actually break a pipe looking for water. If you notice low water pressure or wet patches in the yard, it is worth investigating. 

Water hose connections

Many appliances have hoses and pipes that supply water, which can easily shift and create a mess. Such as the washing machine and ice maker. Look for puddles around the appliances. 

Temperature changes

When the temperature changes are drastic, the pipes expand and contract. This can cause them to crack and leak.
